Twitter is a place that can inspire extreme reactions in people. Much like every other platform frequented by the terminally online, its most dedicated users like to profess how much they hate it, while logging even more hours than they have ever spent before. It also is known for its tendency to provoke the most deranged mental spiraling for the silliest of reasons.

Despite it being an unpleasant and downright infuriating site at times, it still holds a special place in many an internet addict's heart. The reason for this? It's just too darn entertaining, even (and perhaps especially) when the whole thing seems to be on fire. Funny tweets are a dime a dozen, and nothing else has ever been able to replicate that. If there is ever going to be another influential text-based platform, it's going to have some big shoes to fill. In the meantime we still have Twitter, anyway.
